LETTER TO SINGERS AND MUSIC DIRECTORS:

Hi friends.. I'm not into the article writing person..because I prefer speaking but for this I'll take an exception.. I would like to share my story and experience with throat polyps and laryngitis... I came to a realisation today that most vocalists and music directors pay a passive attention to vocal health and also the sparse number of vocal health therapists is an important issue that needs to be discussed.. My name is Olaoluwa Ogunn ... aike .. you can say your average skilled vocalist.. I love to praise God and give worship.. I do so with so much passion and I didn't even care if my voice broke or cracked.. I would always say it would always come back better.... Rehearsals was my favorite hangout (still is)...scoring songs..pushing the range was the greatest high one could have. Little did I know that my poor attention to my voice and the constant strain on it was leading to an injury.. Last year was awesome..so much singing.. (I love my church Power House and my choir Rhapsody of David). Towards the last quarter of year I fell I'll and i noticed I couldn't swallow and talking was particularly difficult... Self diagonis of sore throat..so I took some lozenges and returned to singing.. But it became difficult to sing.. notes that were easy to hit became difficult.. then my range started dropping.. it became so bad that there was blood in my phlegm when I cleared my throat..I literally was in pain, my voice was practically gone and I had to be excused from the choir to seek help...I visited an ENT whose diagnosis indicated acute laryngitis.. But God will always have his way.. I prayed and i asked God to heal me and yes he did...But I still had to stay off active music for close to six months now..... To all my friends especially the singers pls pay adequate attention to your voice... It's a gift..treat it like one.. To music directors please pay attention to the health of your choristers.. maternity wears for wedding at affordable price

Your voice speaks to you..Only if you care to listen.. Singing is natural, once it changes from that then it's no more singing..

YOUR VOICE CAN BE DAMAGED...IF YOU DONT TAKE CARE OF IT..

Pls help to share my experience.. It might help save someone..
